The WPA CC Group have announced a fellowship (Travel Award) for psychiatric trainees to attend the 22nd WPA World Congress of Psychiatry (WCP) in Bangkok, Thailand later this year (3rd-6th August).

This exciting opportunity is open to all psychiatric trainees. The trainees are invited to submit an essay of between 3000-5000 words (including references) on the topic of “Forced displacement and mental health: challenges and resilience”

The lucky winner will win a prize of USD $2000, that will permit them travel to Bangkok and attend the 22nd WPA WCP on a subsidised basis and waived registration to the congress.

After the past couple of years where we have been forced to move our world Congress to an online virtual format, this year’s congress in Bangkok is set to be an amazing event bringing together the world’s psychiatric community. The congress, with the theme “Psychiatry 2022: The need for empathy and action”, we will examine and discuss all the crucial issues in psychiatry and mental health and are setting up an exciting scientific programme with numerous sessions and lectures that convoy our present scientific and technological revolution. Delegates and the winning trainee will certainly profit from up-to-date research data, the best lectures from experts in all fields of mental health, high-quality scientific content, interaction between mental health and other health and social care professionals, patients and carers, and relevant peer-to-peer networking.

Bangkok is considered among one of the most beautiful cities in Asia. In addition to attending a high-quality scientific deliberation, you will have the chance to enjoy this beautiful part of the world.

More information on the fellowship, the requirements and deadlines can be found here.

Deadline and Schedule: All submissions must be submitted to kam.bhui@psych.ox.ac.uk, (including ‘WPA ESSAY PRIZE’ in the subject heading), by 16:00 (BST) on the 16 of June 2022.
